Willian Dean “Bill” Hannah, age 78, of Cambridge passed away at the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home of Arapahoe on March 22, 2020. He was born in Effingham, IL on October 29, 1941 to Arthur C. and Dorothy (Gentry) Hannah. Bill graduated from Cumberland County High School in Greenup, IL. He served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps from November 14, 1958 until he was Honorably Discharged on February 19, 1963.
On October 16, 1971, he was united in marriage to Alberta Kruger in Casey, IL. She preceded him in death on March 9, 2018. Bill and his family moved to Cambridge in 1982 to be close to family. Bill was an over the road truck driver spending 54 years on the road providing for his family. He finally retired from the road in 2016. Bill enjoyed following NASCAR and motorcycle sports. He was known for his quick wit and the ability to make up little ditties and dances for his grandchildren. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren lit up his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Dorothy Hannah; wife, Bert; grandson, Sean Michael Allen; and brother, John Michael Hannah.
Bill is survived by his children, William L. Hannah and wife, Mayra, of Sahuarita, AZ, Tina Morris of Bartley, Arthur Shane Hannah and wife, Diane, of Cambridge, Tanya and husband, Greg Kapustka, of Cambridge; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister and brothers, Sandra Brooks of Farmer City, IL, Bryan Hannah of Beecher City, IL and Richard Hannah of Greenup, IL.
Private family graveside inurnment services will be held in Cambridge on Saturday, March 28, 2020. Military honors will be held by the Marine Honor Guard.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in Bill’s name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary to either the Denver Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
