Patricia "Trish" Houser Obituary

Trish Houser, age 72, passed away at the Bertrand Care Center in Bertrand, Nebraska on January 20, 2024.  She was born in Cozad, Nebraska on May 31, 1951, to David and Betty (Selk) Frew.  Trish attended school in Cozad, graduating from Cozad High School in 1969.  She traveled to Illinois for several years living with a sister, Cindy, before returning to Cozad.  On January 20, 1971, she married Roger Houser.  To this union a daughter, Jami, was born.

Trish, alongside Roger, ran the Medicine Creek Lodge at Harry Strunk Lake in Cambridge, Nebraska for 24 years, from 1987 to 2011.  Even with her fear of water Trish loved nothing more than calling the lake home.  Trish served many delicious meals, omelets, vegetable soup, and ham and bean soup being some of her most requested meals by her family.  One thing to remember eating any of Trish’s meals taste before salting!  She was known to salt everything well.  After they sold the lodge in 2011, Trish filled her time by working at the Cambridge General Store for several years.  While married, Trish was involved with the Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever organizations, helping with many of the yearly banquets.  In her youth, she was a member of Job’s Daughters.  Trish enjoyed the Casino life in Vegas and the “Boats” on the river.  She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, word puzzles, regular puzzles and reading.  There was nothing Trish loved more than her family, especially her great-grandbabies and her favorite cat, "DC".  She will forever be remembered by her bright smile, stubbornness, and sassy attitude!

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Betty; nephew, Chad Naylor; and brother-in-law, Jerry Nicholsen.

Survivors include her ex-husband, Roger Houser of Elwood; her daughter, Jami (Cody) Havener of Arapahoe; granddaughters, Krista (Jay) Sayer of Cambridge and Jadan Schulz of Arapahoe; four great-grandchildren: Jase, Jerrett, Leo, and Sadie; three sisters: Cindy (Dick) McMahon of Loves Park, IL, Marsha Fotchman of Gothenburg, NE, and Becky (Darrel) Naylor of Brighton, CO; as well as many nieces and nephews, family and friends.

The family chose cremation.   A memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.  A private family inurnment will take place at a future date.  Friends may leave online condolences at lockenour.com.  Memorials may be left in Trish's name to be designated to a future charity. Lockenour-Jones Mortuary is entrusted with arrangements.
