Loren Alton Mooney, age 39, passed away at his home in Nipomo, California. He was born at Long Beach Memorial Hospital to Rockie and Susan (Locklair) Mooney on March 28, 1984. Loren attended Lampton Elementary, Glazier Elementary, Los Alisos Middle School and graduated from El Camino High School in La Mirada, the class of 2002. He participated in Little League, soccer, and Boy Scouts of America Troop 911 and 533. Loren became an Eagle Scout in February 2002. He was employed at In-n-Out Burger and a movie theatre in Long Beach. In Nipomo, he worked with his stepbrother, Jaime, installing flooring, as well as landscaping, also a bead and jewelry store and on military bases.
Loren spent summers with his grandparents, Leola and Nic Mooney in Holbrook, Nebraska. Chris Kruger and he worked for Clark Andrews pulling weeds and at that time, he got an old lawn mower, that didn’t run, from Bob Johnson. Loren finally got it running and rode it in the Holbrook Days Parade with Chris Kruger and his brother, Nicholas. They came in second place, receiving a blue ribbon and some cash.
He is preceded in death by grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Locklair and Nic Mooney.
Loren is survived by his mother, Susan (Jim) Jewel of Nipomo, CA; father, Rockie Mooney; two brothers, Daniel and Nickolas Mooney; grandmother, Leola Mooney all of Norwalk, CA; stepbrother, Jamie (Alejandra) Jewel; and nephew, JC Jewel, each of Nipomo, CA; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe, NE on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Becky Saddler officiating. Interment will be in the Arapahoe Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
