Larry "Bugs" Foster, age 81, of Bartley, passed away at the Community Hospital in McCook on November 9, 2020.  He was born in Omaha, NE on February 5, 1939 to Leo and Dorothy (Wight) Foster.  Bugs attended and graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1956 at Bartley High School.  After high school, he joined the United States Navy on May 22, 1956, and was honorably discharged on December 29, 1959.

On December 1, 1963 he was united in marriage to Linda “Lin” York in Denver, CO.  Bugs attended Commercial Art School in Denver.  Upon graduation he went to work for four years at the Methodist Publishing Company in Nashville, TN.  In 1971, the couple moved to Bartley and bought the Bartley IGA store running it until 1979.  Bugs and Lin purchased the Print Shop from Allen Gaskill and ran that for 26 years.  After closing this enterprise, Bugs worked for Twin Valley/Southwest school as a custodian and bus driver.   He also worked parttime for Schaffert Manufacturing for several years.

Bugs was a member of the Bartley Lions Club and the Kemper United Methodist Church.  Bugs was a long time EMT and Fireman for the Bartley Rescue and Fire Department.  He was musically talented, playing his guitar and singing for many funerals along with his mother.  Bugs played with several local musicians at different events and festivals.  He was a member of the Southwest Melodrama Troupe, taking part in many local plays.  He walked many miles with his favorite dog Tippy and was an avid sports fan, especially the Huskers.  Bugs never knew a stranger and was always up for a joke or two.
