James Sherman Hobbs

James Sherman Hobbs Sr., age 84 of Cambridge, passed away at Kearney Regional Hospital on October 24, 2023.  He was born in Pekin, IL on October 22, 1939, to Harley “Jack” and Vivian (Wilkerson) Hobbs.  James joined the US Navy in 1957.  He served on the USS Telfair out of San Diego, CA.  He was Honorable Discharged.

James married Betty Bell Kruger on August 2, 1968.  He later married Juanita Cox on December 31, 1981.  James moved to Cambridge from Illinois 12 years ago.  He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and playing his guitars.  James played in several bands from California, Illinois, and Nebraska.  He loved to watch football and springtime so he could be outdoors and play with the grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack, and Vivian, daughter, Tammy Sue Hobbs,2 sons: Noah (Barbara) Hobbs, Jack Hobbs, sister, June Hill.

He is survived by his daughter, Terri (Dan) Wettstein, 2 sons, James S (Casey) Hobbs II, Albert (Kristy) Hobbs all of Cambridge; 20 grandchildren.

 Cremation was chosen by the family.  Graveside inurnment will take place at the Wilsonville Cemetery on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 1:00 PM with Naval Honors performed by the Naval Honors d Detail.  Friends may leave online condolences at lockenour.com.
