Harvey Arnold Obituary

Harvey N. Arnold, age 72, of Cambridge, NE, passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Sunday, November 6, 2022. He was born in Lexington, NE on February 23, 1950, to Dorrance and Evelyn (Klooz) Arnold. Harvey attended school in Farnam and later at Curtis. After graduation, he attended Kearney State College receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business.  

On March 7, 1970, Harvey was united in marriage to Jerri Lou Gull at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in McCook. The couple lived in Kearney for a brief period before moving to the farm north of Cambridge. The couple were blessed with two sons, Travis and Chris. 

Harvey was a hard-working farmer, raising a variety of row crops (corn, wheat and soybeans) along with prairie hay. He and Jerri Lou raised a herd of Gelbvieh cattle. In his spare time, Harvey enjoyed hunting quail, pheasants, and deer.  On vacations from the farm, they visited Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Arches National Park all in Utah, Glacier National Park, Grand Canyon, but their favorite was a trip to Sequoiah National Park in California. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorrance and Evelyn; father-in-law, Jerry Gull; nephew, Eric Arnold. 

Harvey is survived by his wife, Jerri Lou of Cambridge; two sons, Travis and wife, Mary of Lakewood, CO; Chris and wife, Sarah of Grinnell, IA; one grandchild, Patch Arnold; two step-grandchildren, Izzy Valenti and Sof Valenti; brother, Marvin and wife, Pam of Farnam; mother-in-law, Bettie Gull of McCook; in-laws,  Pam and Joe Schilz, Charlie and Diane Gull, Toni and Bill Gerver, all of McCook, NE; his beloved Golden Retriever, Pooh Bear.

The family chose cremation with a Memorial Service at St. Alban's Episcopal Church of McCook on Friday, November 11, 2022, at 2:30 PM with Pastor Lisa Mensinger officiating. A private family inurnment will take place on a future date. Memorials may be left in Harvey’s name to the Farnam Volunteer Fire Department. Friends may leave online condolences at herrmannfh.com. Herrman-Jones Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
