Gary Eugene Lytton

Gary Eugene Lytton of Kenesaw, NE, age 73 passed away at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings on November 11, 2022. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa on July 21, 1949, to Dale and Gertrude (Johnson) Lytton. Gary went to School in Truro, Iowa and later graduated from Dunwoody School of Engineering in Minneapolis, MN, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  

Gary served his country in the U.S. Army from September 23, 1969 and was Honorably Discharged on September 7, 1971. Gary served in the Viet Nam Conflict.  

Gary was united in marriage to Janet Petersen on July 16, 2000, in Indianola, IA at their home. The couple made their home until 2003, when they moved to Shelton, NE. In May of 2017 the couple moved to Kenesaw. Gary was a mechanical engineer working for Firestone Tire and Rubber, Homeland Security, and several hospitals as Construction Superintendent, a trouble shooter for their cooling and heating systems. He was also self employed as a contractor for heating and cooling (HVAC). Gary enjoyed shooting sports, hunting deer, rabbits, squirrel, and quail. 

He was preceded in death by his parents: Dale and Gertrude; 2 brothers: Dennis and Robert. 

Gary is survived by his wife: Janet of Kenesaw, NE; 2 children: Gordon and wife Mabel of Midland, TX; Melissa Turner and significant other: Chad Smith of Bennington, NE; 5 grandchildren: Charlotte, Lillian, David, Angela, and Issa; sister: Crystal and husband Vince Proudfoot of St. Charles, IA; ½ brother: Russell and wife Lisa of Des Moines, IA.  

A graveside memorial will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, 10:00 A.M. at Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge, NE with Jim Jones officiating Military Honors will be conducted by the Cambridge American Legion Post 199 and the Nebraska National Guard Honors Detail. Memorials may be left in Gary's name to either the Disabled Veteran’s or the Tunnel to Towers. Friends may leave online condolences at lockenour.com. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday November 19, 2022, from 2-5 at the Shelton AmerIcan Legion Hall, 108 C Street, Shelton NE.
