He was inducted into the United States Army in January of 1957 and was honorably discharged on December 9, 1958.

Gail married Betty Heath on January 6, 1962.  To this union four sons were born: Mark, Tracy, Brad and Shane.  Gail later remarried Laurie Magnus on February 13, 1993 and from this marriage their son Tyrea was born.

Gail farmed in the Lebanon area for most of his life.  He was employed for Durango Oil Co., Platte Valley Oil Co. and ATC Communications.  He was a hard worker and through experience and persistence could accomplish most any task.

Gail was a lifetime member of the Lebanon VFW and he was very proud of his service to his country.  He enjoyed working in his garden and loved making salsa for his family and friends.  He loved his sports which included Husker Football.  In his younger years he was an outstanding athlete with basketball and baseball being his favorites.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and just being outdoors.  Gail was a jack of all trades, from restoring vehicles to remodeling homes.  He truly enjoyed going on weekend trips. These included staying in motels, eating out and his favorite was setting in his new truck “people watching” while Laurie shopped.  Gail could be happy wherever he was and truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He will be remembered for his favorite saying “It will settle in”.

Gail was preceded in death by his parents: Harry and Aril: sons: Mark and Brad; sisters Virginia Schroder and Ramona Chambers; brothers Harry Dean, Neal, Dale; brother-in laws Paul Schroder and Clyde Chambers; sister-in laws Betty Warner and Sharon Warner.
