Estella Fay Ann (Ridpath) Shedd passed away at the Hillcrest Care Center in McCook on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the age of 89. She was born in Cambridge on March 30, 1934, to Leon and Berniece (Higgins) Ridpath. Fay Ann attended and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1952. She moved to Colorado where she attended and graduated from the Colorado Women’s College with a degree in Library Science.
Fay Ann was wed to John Robert Davis in September of 1955. To this union four children were born, Diana, Rhonda, Robert Scott, and Larry. The family moved to Cambridge where Fay Ann was employed by Rodney Phillips at the bank, Merl’s Café, and Cambridge Memorial Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
In 1984, she met Gary Shedd near Edgewater, CO while working at a Nursing Home in Colorado. The couple moved to Indianola, NE while Fay Ann was employed at Hillcrest Nursing Home, McCook, NE. The couple was wed in August of 1994. Gary preceded her in 1998. Fay Ann moved to Kenesaw, NE to be near family. She worked at the Nursing Home in Kenesaw, before retiring and moving back to Cambridge.
Fay Ann enjoyed going to meals at the Cambridge Senor Center. Even when her health deteriorated, she made the trek from her apartment at Parkside Manor to eat and socialize.
Fay Ann was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Robert Scott Davis; infant daughter, Diana Davis; brothers, Jim Ridpath, William (Marge) Ridpath.
Fay Ann is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (Carl) Hellner of Kenesaw, NE; son, Larry (Lajuana) Davis of McCook, NE; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen with a Memorial Service planned for Friday, September 15, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Trinity Methodist Church, in Cambridge, with Pastor Tim Burke officiating. Memorials may be left in Fay Ann's name to the Cambridge Senior Center. Friends may leave online condolences at lockenour.com. Lockenour-Jones Mortuary is entrusted with services.
