Donna Jean Dunn, age 73, of Holbrook passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020 at the Elwood Care Center in Elwood, Nebraska, after a courageous battle with bone cancer. Donna was born on February 6, 1947 at Wray, Colorado to Elmer and Martha (Redden) Andrews. She graduated from Longmont High School, in 1965. She continued her education by taking online classes to become a certified dietician. She was employed as a dietician at the Wray Hospital in Wray, Colorado for many years and later at the Mues Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Arapahoe, Nebraska until her health declined.
Donna was united in marriage to Robert Lawing in 1965 at Longmont, Colorado. To this union three children were born. She later married David Snyder in Benkelman, Nebraska in 1995. On June 30, 2006, she married Kevin Dunn and to this union five sons were welcomed to the family
Donna was a member of the Parks Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. She later became a member of the First United Methodist church of Arapahoe. Donna enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and painting. She was an excellent cook and loved collecting recipes. She raised a large garden every year then canned her bountiful harvest. She had a love for animals, especially dogs and cats and a passion for collecting frogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Martha; husbands Robert Lawing and David Snyder and a son, Robert "Bobbie" Lawing.
Donna is survived by her husband, Kevin Dunn of Holbrook; children: Bradley (Kim) Lawing of Mandan, ND, Sheila (Nicklas) DeOss of McCook, NE; steps-sons: Edward (Olga) Dunn of Grant, NE, William Dunn of Grand Island, Nicholas (Kaitlyn) Dunn of Indianola, Kevin Jr (Melissa) Dunn of Lexington, Christopher (Lauren) Dunn of Grand Island; step-daughters Cindy Salmans and Samantha Jensen; 5 grandchildren: Cassandra Yelton, LaTasha Lawing, Breanna Lawing, Ian Yelton, Evan DeOss: 7 step-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Connie) Andrews of Hamburg, MN; sister, Carolyn "Diane" Powers of Holbrook. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services are being planned for Monday, June 15, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe, NE, with Pastor Becky Saddler officiating. Memorials may be given in Donna's name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary of Cambridge. Inurnment will be held at the Benkelman, NE, Cemetery.
