Avis Lavonne (Scott) Wolfe

Avis Wolfe age 99, formerly of Wilsonville, passed away at the Holdrege Memorial Hospital. She was born near Wilsonville, NE on November 20, 1916 to Clarence and Ortha (Payne) Scott. Avis attended country school and later graduated from Wilsonville, High Schol in 1936. She was united in marriage to Roscoe H. Wolfe in 1936. He preceded her in death in July of 1993.

 

The couple made their home on a farm east of Wilsonville. Avis worked as a cook at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital fo many years, but was very important to the farm operation. Roscoe was involved with the Twin Valley REA and Avis was very active with the WIRE (Wives Involved in Rural Electric). She served on the local, state and the national committees and other meetings of the wives of the board members. Avis was a member of the Wilsonville Baptist-Christian Church. She enjoyed Quilting, Crochetting, Sewing and other types of handy work. She was proud of her yard and garden. She sewed many items for Apple Kay's in Orleans, NE.

 

Avis was preceded in death by he parents, husband:Roscoe; son:Arlen and daughter-in-law Mary Wolfe; sister: Maxine Fernandez.

 

She is survived by her son: Gale Wolfe of Cambridge; daughter-in-law: Judy Wolfe of Holdrege, NE; 7 grandcildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great-great gandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday May 6, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Wilsonille Baptist Christian Church with Keith Theobald officiatng. Graveside services will be held at 2:0 PM at the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 AM till 7:00 PM with the family greet friends from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM. Memorials may be left at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Avis' name in lieu of flowers to the Alzhiemer Foundation. Friends may leave on-line condolences at lockneour.com.
