Amy Louise Gentry age 65, of Cambridge, passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on August 4, 2023. She was born in Lincoln, NE on September 24, 1957, to Donald Lee and Helen Joan (Shivel) Bachman. Amy and the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Amy attended and graduated from Memorial High School in 1976. She then attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado and obtained her Masters in Nursing. Amy worked in Keenesburg and Fort Collins as a Nurse Practitioner.
Amy was married to Keith Abbott and to this union three children were born, Jessica Jeanne, Dana Jeanne, and Kellie Jeanne.
Amy was known for her quick wit. She loved to spend time in the mountains, biking, and hiking. Her talents included painting in all mediums, throwing pottery and rug weaving. She loved her dogs and box turtles. Amy was an enthusiastic gardener. She was known to be an advocate for her patients’ care and health.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Lee Bachman.
Amy is survived by her three daughters, Jessica Jeanne Abbott of Sophia, NC, Dana Jeanne Abbott of Sterling, CO, and Kellie Jeanne Rose of Jay, OK; seven grandchildren, Lucy Joan Abbott, Gavin Kelly Abbott, Harper Samuel Abbott, Ryder Eugene Abbott, Brooke Blinn Howes, Jacob Eugene Howes, and Madeline Faye Rose; mother, H. Joan Bachman of Cambridge; sister, Rebecca (Becky) L. Van de Bogart of Cambridge; brother, J. Charles (Chuck) Bachman of Tulsa, OK.
The family chose cremation with a family service to be held at a future date. Friends may leave online condolences at Lockenour.com. Lockenour Jones mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements.
