Ila Marie Schutz age 77 of Cambridge passed away at the Cambridge Manor in Cambridge on January 14, 2019. She was born in Norton, KS on September 12, 1941 to George and Bernice (Bryant) Sweeley. The family moved to Elwood and Ila continued her education and graduated from Elwood High School in 1959.
Ila was united in marriage to Wayne Schutz on February 23, 1964 at Salem Lutheran Church in Elwood. The couple lived outside of Holdrege after which they moved to the family farm where ila grew up and raised their children.
In 2005, they moved to Cambridge. Ila worked for several years as a nurse’s aide at the Mues Good Samaritan Home in Arapahoe. She babysat and did some housekeeping.
Ila enjoyed walks with the kids, talking history of the community and cemetery they happen to be near. She did ceramic painting, and crossword puzzles. When she could visit, she loved to go to the Tri-Valley Foundation Thrift Shop, buying things for her grandchildren. Sometimes it was things that the family had sent themselves.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson: Kirk Smith; brothers: Clarence “Tex” Sweeley and Sherman and wife Laura Sweeley: daughter in law: Mari Schutz;
Ila is survived by her husband: Wayne of Cambridge; 2 daughters: Zoie and husband Bill Nicholson of Lebanon; Kathleen and husband Jim Jorschumb of Silver City, NM; son: Michael Schultz of Fremont, NE; 6 grandchildren: Sarah, Stephanie, Johnathan, Michael, Crissy, Bethany and Kirklend; 8 great Grandchildren; sister; Judy and husband Richard Breinig of Arapahoe; sister-in-law: Linda Sweeley of El Paso, TX
Memorial services will be held on Thursday January 17, 2019 at 2:30 PM at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary with Pastor Dan Wiese. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Friends may leave on-line condolences at lockenour.com. Memorials may be left in Ila’s name to the Tri Valley Foundation Thrift Shop.
