Donald “Dan” E. Richardson, age 90 of Cambridge, passed away at the Cambridge Manor on May 20, 2018. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 11, 1928 to Sidlow and Nellie Mae (Sims) Richardson. Dan attended school in Arkansas and Florida as his family moved. In Florida, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Force and served from February 1946 till February 1949. Dan was Honorably Discharged at Elgin Air Force Base in Florida.
In 1950, Dan married Irma Goodale and to this union 6 children were born: Donna, Eugene, Roseanna, Cynthia, and twins Rebecca and Robert.
Dan found his way to California where he was employed by the US Postal Service as a contract mail driver. Later Dan moved to Cambridge after his retirement with Geneva Fuller to care for her mother.
Dan loved his cats, tinkering with bicycles he bought at auctions or garage sales. He loved gardening and going fishing and the outdoors. Dan enjoyed visiting with neighbors.
Preceding him in death was his parents, son: Robert Joel; daughter: Cynthia Bullard; 3 brothers: Paul, Edward, Bobby Joel; significant other: Geneva Fuller.
Dan is survived by his children: Donna and Husband Leo McGuire of Webster, FL; Roseanna and husband Marc Schiesel of Ocala, FL; Rebecca Pritchard of Hudson, FL; Eugene B. Richardson Sr. of Oklahoma City, OK; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 6 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews: son-in-law: Mark Bullard.
Funeral services will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church in Cambridge on Thursday, May 24, 2018 with Rick Bradley officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery of Cambridge. Military Honors will be performed at graveside. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 10:00 AM till 7:00 PM with family present from 6PM till 7PM.
