Chancy Alfred Decker, born May 3, 1925, the son of Morgan Levi and Velma May Decker was born in the farm house which was 3 miles east and 2 miles north of Cambridge, NE. Chancy went in to the military service on May 20, 1945 and shortly later married Rosalie Finley-Wirsig of McCook on February 14,1948.
Chancy resided at the Decker home place since birth with Rosalie joining him after their marriage. Chancy and Rosalie moved to Holdrege, NE in 1985, in which he continued to drive back and forth to Cambridge to continue with the farming until his full retirement in 1998. Chancy and Rosalie had three children: Cynthia Allard (Decker)of Holdrege, NE, Dennis Decker of Hastings, NE, and David Decker whom passed away in infancy.
Throughout Chancy’s lifetime, he had many hobbies and enjoyments including horseback riding in his younger years, bowling, ball room dancing, jogging, farming and working with his cattle. Chancy and Rosalie enjoyed playing pinochle in the card group they loved being a part of even after moving to Holdrege. Chancy loved talking to people no matter where he was.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Rosalie, on February 4, 2000; his parents; infant son, David; and brother, John (Betty) Decker.
Chancy also had two grandchildren, Karyn Mohler (Barth) whom is married to Abe Mohler Sr. of Mankato, KS and Cameron Allard whom is married to Kimberly (Churhwell) of Holdrege, NE.
Chancy also had seven great-grandchildren, whom are Dalton Barth of Grand Island, NE, Abe Mohler Jr who is married to Chasity (Stovall) of Formoso, KS, Spencer Mohler who is married to Brooke (Martin) of Formoso, KS, Dillon Mohler of Randall, KS, Chevy, Cheyenne and Nakita Mohler of Mankato, KS. Chancy also has eight great-great-grandchildren, Adalynn Barth, Natalie Mohler, Bucklynn Mohler, Ciara Mohler, Charlsie Mohler, Gunner Mohler, Blaze Mohler, and another on its way; and numerous cousins.
Funeral Services will be held at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge, NE on Friday March 15, 2019, at 2:00 Pm with Pastor Weston Birtrell. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery of Cambridge. Casket will be closed at the services. Military Honors will be at graveside. Friends may leave on-line condolences at lockenour.com.
