Addison Kathleen Samuelson-Carbaugh,19 years old of Cambridge, gained her angel wings in the early morning hours on July 26, 2017 at the Tri-Valley Hospital in Cambridge, NE.

Addison was born on April 4th, 1998 in Holdrege, NE. Addison was baptized on August 9, 1998 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege. She went to kindergarten at Washington Elementary in Holdrege. She moved with her mom to Cambridge before 1st grade. As a child she played softball, and participated in swim team, gymnastics, and dance. She was confirmed on April 15, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge. She continued growing in her faith through youth group and attending church. Addison participated in volleyball, basketball, track and her favorite sport, golf, in High School. She was a member of FBLA, student council, Circle of Friends, National Honor Society, Art Club, played the flute, and was Cheerleader Captain her sophomore year. Addison was chosen as Homecoming Queen and was very humbled and honored by this. She especially loved her crown! She graduated from Cambridge High School in 2016. Addison was attending University of Nebraska at Lincoln and pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. She worked at Home Depot in Lincoln and was lifeguard/assistant manager at the Cambridge Pool during her summers.

Addison was adopted by the UNK Girls Basketball team in 2014. Addison enjoyed being part of the team and getting to know Coach Chaney and the girls. She participated in Relay for Life in Furnas County for the last 5 years.

Addison loved travel and adventure! She explored many amazing places including swimming with the dolphins in Florida, visiting the White House in Washington D.C., scuba diving in Bora Bora, skiing in Wyoming, taking a cruise to Mexico, visiting the Alamo and Grand Canyon, and climbing the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Addison loved all things Disney and enjoyed visiting the parks in Florida, California, and Paris. She was fortunate to go on a Sunshine Kids trip to California and a Make-a-Wish trip to Bora Bora. She loved Spongebob, Harry Potter, Hippos, Black Friday Shopping with her mom, Jessica, late night dance parties with Dad, Jerry, Starbucks green tea, holidays, and living life! Addison’s Mom was her best friend and she loved being with her more than anything.

Addison’s motto was “Be Brave”. She battled brain cancer twice in the last five years and never has there been a stronger more courageous person. She was a rule follower and truly wanted to inspire others to make a difference in the world. Her smile was infectious and she was a bright light to all who loved and knew her.

Samuelson/Carbaugh families,

I did not know Addison but I had recently started following her Be Brave, Addison, Facebook page after my cousin Brodie had shared her page. While following her page, I felt like I had gotten to know her through all the updates Jessica had shared. For what short time I was able to "know" Addison, she definitely left an impression that will stay with me forever. I know she meant the world to Brodie. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

Jessica, Jerry, family, and friends:

What a delight it has been to have crossed paths in this life on earth. Bree couldn't have asked for a better college roommate. I always enjoyed hearing all about the stories with Addie, Matt, and Austin. My heart breaks to think that Addie will no longer be there to make new memories, yet I am filled with joy thinking about all of the wonderful promises of "life-after-death" to followers of Christ...and how wonderful the Kingdom of Heaven is. Through these difficult times, I am reminded to cherish each moment and live a God-pleasing life!

You remain in our thoughts and prayers...and may our paths continue to cross through this journey of life!

Lovingly,

Steve and Debi Dawe Family

I am so sad by the news of Addie's passing. I met your family at Children's Hospital in June and have come to know Judy. Addy had a besutiful life to be proud of. Her battle was hard and it is terrible when we lose our kids. She is in good hands and will walk with God and the angels. Be at peace beautiful girl.
